Spend a Night Outdoors at Swallow Falls State Park Camping
Swallow Falls is an extremely well-maintained and clean park that has retained the natural charm of its wild surroundings. If you’re looking for untainted natural beauty that is untouched by humans, this is the spot.
It’s a great place to set up camp and get in touch with nature for a relaxing, rejuvenating experience, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

You can pitch a tent and enjoy the traditional camping experience with all the essential amenities for a rustic adventure. If you’re looking for a more sheltered experience, they also have facilities for an RV.
The park has 65 wooded campsites, with a capacity for up to 25 guests per site.
The main Swallow Falls Campground is right along the banks of the gorgeous Youghiogheny River which offers a stunning backdrop of the wilderness.
An hour’s drive from Morgantown, the Park is open year-round. Weekend site bookings require a minimum stay of 2 nights or 3 nights on holiday weekends.
Aside from the Wednesday before Memorial Day until the Tuesday after Labor Day, sites are only available on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, if you’re looking to book one of the three full hookup sites, you must always reserve them in advance.
Day-use fees apply on a per-vehicle basis throughout the year and on a per-person basis from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.
While the Park has restrooms, bike rentals, picnic areas, and other such amenities, keep in mind that the cell service is unreliable and there are black bears around.

If you’re looking for a more challenging and intensive expedition, this 20 km out-and-back trail is a wonderful option. On average, it takes around 4 hours and 20 minutes to complete with an elevation gain of 226 m. Depending on the season, this trail is ideal for biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing adventures.
